At Top Cat Films we take our fun very seriously. If you don’t believe us, check out what really happened behind the scenes during the making of PREY

As talented as we are, we confess that there’s also a lot of talent and input coming from:

ROCCO HOWATT-JACKMAN

rocco_transIn spite of his inexperience (born in 2002), Rocco is the alpha cat. His tendency to act before he thinks has led him into trouble on a number of occasions, including getting trapped in the neighbour’s pool enclosure, getting lost while holidaying in the country and surviving for a week in the wild. As he matures, he is showing more interest in his career and we are now beginning to entrust with him more responsibility. If he applies the same fearless tenacity to his work, we can expect him to take a key management role in Top Cat Films in the future. Recently plagued by a life-threatening illness, he has turned -- like many celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Sting -- to Reiki and homeopathy and has thankfully turned the corner. Rocco loves film. His favourite movie is Travelling Birds.

FELIX SAMLIN TANYOVAR GALINSKY

felix_transWhere there’s smoke…there’s Felix. Originally misdiagnosed as autistic when a young kitten, he proved later on that he had a genius I.Q. when he memorized the value if PI to 113,459 digits in his litter box, whilst simultaneously playing Bobby Fisher online on his portable chess Xbox. Still dealing with some emotional issues as a result of being born in the Western Suburbs on April Fools Day 2001, Felix is known as ‘The Enforcer,’ and not shy about putting his paw down when necessary. He is a computer expert, and has been known to download cat porn and chat online clandestinely with Rocco when Bobby or Elizabeth is away from the office. His favourite colour is red MEAT.

OSCAR TAMSIM SHERAZADE GALINSKY

oscar_transAs the eldest and most experienced of the four non-executive directors, it is Oscar who many look up to for advice. Originally from Sydney, Oscar’s speed and Leonine attitude are legendary throughout the industry. A veteran of over a dozen hit feature films including The Towering Catferno, The Talented Mr. Catley, and Fur Actually, Oscar is as comfortable working the crowds at Cannes as he is modelling for Armani, Oscar de la Renta (a cousin) and Prada. Between projects Oscar likes to windsurf, listen to Oasis or The Killers, and was never known to miss an episode of The Sopranos.

(MS) LOUIE HOWATT-JACKMAN B. com

louie_transLouie is Rocco’s sister and the youngest director of Top Cat Films. Also, being the only female in this testosterone-filled environment, she often struggles to get her views across. But Louie is a quiet achiever and what she lacks in self confidence she makes up with a prodigious work ethic and attention to detail. She will not allow Elizabeth to spend time on the computer in her absence, and insists on vetting every document and email before it leaves the office. A recognised beauty, she has turned down a number of lead roles (until that benighted and short-lived role in Australia, now subject to legal action – see below). She now prefers to work on the other side of the camera and it is her ambition to direct. Her first project is a remake of the Hitchcock classic The Birds.

Political Correctness PDF Print E-mail

It is our belief at Top Cat Films that the world suffers from insufficient films about cats and there are simply not enough cats represented on our screens. We believe this is because of the powerful international movement to keep cat stories and cat actors suppressed.

australiaTop Cat Films is signatory to the underground but growing international movement FMFMFMF (Film Makers For More Felines in Multicultural Films). It is our aim to stamp out this feline discrimination in all forms and we are actively seeking scripts for stories about cats and scripts with great acting roles for cats.

Sadly our first initiative in this area ended badly when Louie Howatt-Jackman’s big break on Baz Luhrman’s Australia was prematurely cut short and she was fired within days of starting the shoot. The official reason given was that the lead actor was allergic to cats, but one look at this early publicity photo shows that was just spin doctoring: the on-screen chemistry between these two was so electric it sizzled, personal jealousies surfaced and when it came to a choice, Louie just didn’t have his CV or box office draw and she became the ‘scape cat.’

Giving Back to the Community PDF Print E-mail

Top Cat Films has a policy of giving back a share of our profits to the community and for its first film, PREY; the charity we have selected is the Victorian Country Fire Authority, staffed mainly by volunteers who risk their lives to keep others safe.

The 2009 bushfires in Victoria destroyed nearly two thousand homes, and killed nearly 200 people, as well as countless livestock and wild life. It was the biggest disaster in Australia’s history. Individuals and companies dug deep to aid the survivors, but a country with a population of only 21 million people cannot raise what is needed to buy the Elvis helicopters needed for modern-day fire-fighting in this country. There is only one Elvis helicopter in Victoria and four in the entire country. In a country suffering from a decade of drought, we need at least 15.

There are many moving stories arising out of those devastating bushfires, but none as heart-warming as that of Sam the koala.

heraldsunA bewildered and badly burned koala, now known as Sam, is comforted by CFA volunteer David Tree. Thirsty and with 2nd and 3rd degree burns on her paws, she overcomes her fear to allow David to give her some water. (Sam recovered from her burns but died in August 2009 from Chlamydia, the life-threatening disease which affects many of Australia’s koalas.)

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
