First Project -PREY, Already a Success |

Four years since commencing development of the original script, Prey starring pop-star Natalie Bassingthwaighte and heartthrob Jesse Johnson (son of Miami Vice Don Johnson) was completed and launched to the world. With the average film taking about eight years from conception to screen, it is a major achievement to finish in half that time and for about half what it would cost to shoot in the US.

In spite of the Global Financial Crisis which made the 2009 Marche du Cannes the worst attended in recent memory (majors such as Sony and Paramount did not attend) Prey was one of the few low budget indie films to secure a US distribution deal.

May 2009, Prey was launched in Australasia with a limited theatrical season and unfavourable reviews from the critics *(see below). The DVD release is scheduled for October 09 through Paramount Pictures Home Video, with the largest pre-order for a DVD release by any independent Australian film ever (equating to 60% of the pre-order for Dark Knight). The Australian DVD release is also being supported by a ‘win a trip to Vegas’ sponsored by the Nevada Tourism Commission.

Negotiations are underway for cross promotional deals throughout the USA with a coupon deal through the Outback Steakhouse chain www.outback.com/, and a ‘win a trip to Australia’ sponsored by Pokerstars.com and Northern Territory Tourism Authority

The DVD is scheduled to be released across nationwide USA on Halloween through Xenon/Lionsgate, to be followed by Pay TV, Free TV and ancillary markets, subject to standard industry releasing windows

But the success of the US premiere, the opportunities arising out of that and the universally positive reviews vindicate our unshakeable belief that this film will connect with American audiences, the most lucrative market in the world.
